I tried pidgin in Windows and Adium is very simliar, but a reason I went back to MSN messenger was the fact that I couldn't display my contact list as simply Online/Offline. Is there an option in Adium that allows you to stop using groups and simply display contacts as online/offline?

EDIT: I know I could manually get rid of the groups by dragging contacts in/out etc...but when I sign on to MSN on a different machine, and than back on (pidgin at the time) it messes things up.

Wow, I feel so stupid. Thanks.

Side question: Is there also a way to sign in with a 'status' of 'away' or 'offline' etc..

Yes.

Just sign out as 'away', and you'll log back in with the same status. I always leave mine on away, and it's spiffing.
