Adium vs Mercury Messenger

I've been using Mercury and really like it, but a friend of mine told me to download Adium. The interface is much nicer, but the other persons avatar doesn't always come up and its really annoying. Is there something I should do in the preferences?

I like Adium, very customizable Humm, didn't understand your question about the display pic, could you be more specific? (I mean, come up where?)

The display pic is just one of those things, over time (A few boots) their pic will come up, its just time. Version 1 is much better at updating, so watch this space.

Adium is the way to go tho.

Are you kidding? Its Adium hands down.

If you are purely using MSN, you may also experiment with aMSN.... it's a much cleaner looking app than Mercury (to me, at least). But it, like Mercury, has more support for MSN features than Adium does. To be honest, if you want MSN only and don't need video, even Microsoft Messenger is not so bad... I love Adium primarily because it allows me to be on all networks at once.
