Whenever I try to add or remove and an application from my Applications folder, I get "Type and administrator's name and password to allow finder to make changes." I don't know why my name and password won't work. I'm on my admin account, and the name and password work at login.

I don't know if this might have caused it, but I recently Archive and Installed because I had some problems with bootcamp. So, I tried using crossover but something was wrong with Perl. I Archive and Installed before, but this never happened.

Is this something I'm stuck with or can it be fixed?

Edit:
OK. Well, it looks like I'm actually on a standard account. How am I supposed to get back into my admin account?

Edit 2: Nevermind. I just used the Leopard disc to reset my password.

I have forgotten the admin password on my G4. Is it possible for me to reset it somehow? Or do i need to reinstall OS X perhaps? If so how hard is that for a mac beginner?

thanks for the information. Now i guess i need to find a OS X boot disk- my MAC came installed and didnt have a cd. So far i can only find the upgrades for download. i will check the apple site for info.

Or ask for it at the Genius Bar or Apple Support.
