Adobe AE Help!

I just DLd the AAE trial so I'm 100% new to the software. I was gonna import some .wmvs which didn't work so I converted the files to AE supported formats like MPEG-4, m2ts, avi, mov but I always got an error code(86: 1) saying that they were unsupported file formats. Please help me to import these clips
