Adobe Audition Beta Recording Problems?

I recently started using the beta version of Au for mac, and decided i wanted to start trying some recording stuff along with editing. All the editing preferences work fine, but when i go to record, no matter what i use whether it be the built-in mic, or lightsnake with a shure sm48 when i play it back it has a bunch of static mixed in with the original audio. Both internal mic & sm48 work fine with garage band, and playback when editing soundfiles in audition is fine. I only run into this problem with recorded audio. Any ideas on how to fix this?
