Adobe element 8 compatibility with Mac

I have read on the Adobe site that some people have had problems loading 8 on to there Mac and that it is not user friendly. Has anyone found this to be true? I would like to purchase it, but, once I open the package it's my problem from then on. Ps is to costly, so it is not an option. Thanks
