Sorry if this is a dumb question but I didn't know if trying to load the CD would create a problem if it's not compatible with my system -

A friend gave me her install CD for Adobe Illustrator CS, she's decided not to use it. However, her PC is Windows and I have an iMac/Leopard. Am I right that I could install the program only on Windows - that the install disc does not have Windows and Mac options?

Thanks.

Correct - not that you'd do any harm by putting it in the drive, but Adobe apps do not come as dual-format disks, you have to buy either the Mac or windows version.

That's the Windows version of Illustrator and it won't run on your iMac unless it's an Intel machine and you have Bootcamp and Windows installed, or any of a number of virtualisation solutions to run Windows apps on your machine.
