Can't wait to see what the upgrades include. Hopefully everything will be optimized for the g5...

Upgrades?

I just bought the entire design collection this week at the student price. Does Adobe offer some kind of free (or maybe cost of the media) upgrade for suckers like me?

Yes, you buy it again for the same price. That's why the educational price is so low.

Ofcourse it will be. Photoshop 7 had a g5 plugin, why would future applications not?

The one thing I want most out of life is LiveMotion 3.0 with SVG as the native format and advanced SMIL animation capabilities. Adobe has the chance to completely dominate a medium/market here and if they don't take it they REALLY lack vision. Sure, Flash is great, but text-based vector animation that can be styled with CSS RULES.

I wonder if Photoshop Elements would be updated, too...I just bought it the other day online to replace an OS 9 program I had after ordering my new PowerBook and it'd suck to have it outdated so soon since it hasn't even been delivered yet.

Powerbook G5,

I believe Adobe has always given free upgrades to thier products if purchased within 30 days of the new version.

The new versions should be OS X only. As far as G5 optimization... they will probably do a plug-in like they did when the first PowerPCs came out. We still have new G4s being made.

Talked to Adobe customer support this afternoon and they said there's a 30-day guarantee, where all I'd have to pay is shipping.

I just took a look at adobe.com to try and clarify this up-grading policy point. No info there.
I then browsed their forums and found conflicting opinions... Any of you guys know what their policy is and if I can upgrade my edu version to a commercial version for a *reasonable* price?
Not that I need to yet, but it's good to know...

Yes they do! When the new versions are announced, they will specify the terms of the upgrade. Last time, recent purchases received a free upgrade.

The deal is {was last year} that if you buy a student version and you want to upgrade to the full version, then you get to do so for the same upgrade price as full users. Some resellers dont even/claiim to know about this policy so if you buy edu dont be suckered into believing you have to pay full price for a commercial version as you dont, you should qualify for upgrade :)
