Starting today, many Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Express features are available to use directly in ChatGPT, allowing you to edit photos, transform PDF documents, design event invitations, and more with conversational prompts.

After connecting the apps, you can use prompts such as "add creative effects to the background" or "create an invitation for my dance party."

Here is what you can do, according to Adobe:
  • Easily edit and uplevel images with Adobe Photoshop: Adjust a specific part of an image, fine-tune image settings like brightness, contrast and exposure, and apply creative effects like Glitch and Glow — all while preserving the quality of the image.
  • Create and personalize designs with Adobe Express: Browse Adobe Express' extensive library of professional designs to find the best one for any moment, fill in the text, replace images, animate designs and iterate on edits — all directly inside the chat and without needing to switch to another app — to create standout content for any occasion.
  • Transform and organize documents with Adobe Acrobat: Edit PDFs directly in the chat, extract text or tables, organize and merge multiple files, compress files and convert them to PDF while keeping formatting and quality intact. Acrobat for ChatGPT also enables people to easily redact sensitive details.
After connecting the apps to ChatGPT in Settings → Apps & Connectors, you can find them by clicking on the plus sign next to the chat field and selecting "More." ChatGPT can also automatically surface the apps if you use a prompt such as "Adobe Photoshop, help me blur the background of this image" or "Adobe Acrobat, help me edit this PDF."

Adobe's app integrations are available to all ChatGPT users worldwide, for free, across ChatGPT.com and the ChatGPT app for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Adobe Express for ChatGPT is also available on Android, with support for Photoshop and Acrobat for ChatGPT on Android coming soon, according to the announcement.

If you want to use more advanced features, you an seamlessly move from ChatGPT to Adobe's standalone apps and pick up right where you left off.

Literally nobody asked for that. What I did in fact ask for was being able to print a FedEx label without AcroReader popping up with ooooooh printing a label, are we luv? Want to use AI to summarize it? Rephrase it maybe? No, just start the damn app sometime today and get out of the way of doing actual work.

Nice! Excited to try this out. Curious how this compares to the Canva integrations.

Sorry if I sound really thick, but how do I do this in ChatGPT? I can’t see an option for linking to photoshop and even when I asked it, it said there wasn’t a way.

And at the risk of sounding even denser, do you need a photoshop sub?

It’s under settings, apps and connectors.

So I need to have paid subscription for Photoshop/Acrobat or Adobe account is enough?

Actually it would have been better to team up with canva, now they own the Affinity 3 in 1 app : Designer, Photo and Publisher. It’s a free App, I know you pay for their AI version, but will probably be much cheaper than what Adobe will charge.

Wasn’t (or still is MacOS) Quartz2D renderer based on Adobe PDF 1.4 spec still ;)

Quartz 2D is based on version 1.4 of the Adobe's Portable Document Format(PDF), a specification for an open file format that preserves all of the fonts, formatting, colors and graphics of any source document, regardless of the platform used to create it.[1] Graphics functions which don't require advanced features (such as graphics embedding) will fall back to PDF 1.3 for improved performance.[2][3] It replaced the Display PostScript imaging model from NeXTSTEP (the Unix-based predecessor to Mac OS) to avoid paying licensing fees to Adobe.[4]

Do not be fooled, this is never free and for everyone. you have to have account. So it is "free"...

Update: From my short experience, total trash. It was not able to proceed even 8 page PDF and translate it. Was dealing with million nonsense and then we run out of free time 😂 and it would probably have not outputted proper PDF anyway

Hehehe, nice try.
AI has very bad sides but I can't wait for most uses of Adobe to be replaced by AI.
In fact, if AI eventually replaces all software, all workers and then human life itself, I'll cheer up thinking "at least Adobe doesn't exist anymore". Well, I won't, but an AI version of me will.

IMHO the article does a bad job in (not) explaining how this feature actually works, rather feels more like a PR article from Adobe than something actually useful.
At least to me it first seemed they added an integration to let ChatGPT work with a locally installed version of Photoshop or Acrobat, this would be actually amazing, even if not the full feature set is supported. They could probably build on AppleEvents or Photoshop's built in scripting framework.
But instead this seems to be some very limited functionality on some web-based Photoshop variant, running inside a webview in ChatGPT just adding more layers of abstraction that slow things down. Also asking it for even basic things like cropping images reminds so much of Siri… "Sorry I cannot do that" 🙄

I don’t understand yet how integration of anything actually works with ChatGPT… notes, notion, etc wants to “connect” at times. How would it actually know how to drive the app itself? Don’t even want to try it yet.
ChatGPT while I do find it useful myself it glitches just too much to believe these extra layers of complexity and connectivity would actually work.

And it’s spreading everywhere, Notion when I’m doing a video call in Slack pops a notification of the sort “do you want to take notes and transcribe your current call?”

That said, I have found Nano banana with the Adobe Firefly web interface just insane… I find it an incredible photo basher, composer, concepts creator. You can grab a suit screenshot, a glass screenshot and a person and say to put the suit and the glass on the person. It works, it’s “stable”, it keeps the original image intent. Unlike the likes of midjourney which makes it impossible to get two similar results twice, they always start adding stuff you didn’t ask.
