I'm thinking about purchasing Adobe Production Premium CS3 (as well as FCS2 later on), and I am wondering what the differences are between CS3 Academic and CS3 Full version. I googled it and couldn't find much, but I can get CS3 Academic for about $500 and the full version is about $1200.

Are there any huge differences I should know about?

Same thing goes for Final Cut Studio 2, what is the difference in the Academic version and full versions?

Thanks,
Colin

So theres no actual software differences, like plugins missing, stuff like that?

I am a student, and will be for another 4 years, so I guess I could just purchase the Academic versions if theres no major differences.

Generally the Academic versions of FCS are not eligible for upgrades, meaning if FCS3 were to to be released, you would have to buy either the retail version or another academic version. When I upgraded from FCS1 to FCS2, the upgrade was $499 as opposed to $699 for the Academic version. Otherwise, there's no difference between the two versions, except well of course the cost.

I might be going to Columbia in Illinois, if I don't stay in state.

Cool.

If you decide to stay in state Ball State has an excellent program. Granted I'm biased 'cause that's where I went to school:D, but BSU is consistently ranked top 5 for TV production nationally.

I am definitely considering BSU, also! Columbia is pretttty expensive, so I'm not sure if I want to make it final yet, it depends on a lot of things!

So If I was to buy the academic Version of Adobe Production Premium CS3, I wouldn't be able to sell the things I make with the software?
