On my MacBook, when I go to the App Store, I searched for Adobe Reader and does not come up on the list on the App Store.

However, on the iPhone's App Store, it does show up, but not from the Mac's version of the App Store.

Why is this?

On iOS, if the dev wants the app available - they have to use the iOS App Store. Direct installs are basically impossible on a consumer basis.

On a Mac, they can choose to have you download/install it from their website or wherever. That appears to be Adobe’s decision for most of their Mac apps - you can get Photoshop Elements through the Mac App Store, and Lightroom, but not much else. All the rest you download from www.adobe.com
