I just got the iOS 16.2 notification to update. But I am not to sure if my region supports it since its only supported for US regions called the Advanced Protection for iCloud sync.

If it does, I have a question for this.

Since the encryption keys are stored on the device, and someone looses their phone or the phone gets damaged, then even when trying to access the iCloud data through iCloud.com using the web browser, the data cannot be accessed because the encryption keys are stored on the device since all data that is synced from the device are first encrypted before syncing to iCloud.

What happens then?

You enter the recovery key code that you setup and are supposed to keep a copy of so you can enter it and access your data.. Doesn't matter if it's on the device, you have the code so you have access. If you lose the code your SOL since Apple doesn't have access to them..
