I'm not of the same expertise as a lot of folks on here are.... but what would be the benefit felt from having a 64 bit iPhone?

I know with desktops it's helpful for intense statistical work, tons of RAM requirements, etc.

What new iPhone applications would this open up?

Not much at the moment really although it does hint at where the future of the iPhone is going, i.e pretty much a fully capable personal computer.

Cons:
Greater memory usage of 64-bit apps/system versus 32-bits one.

Is a simple natural progression. Doubling the data path means able to do 2x the work at the same clock speed.

Can anyone explain what the difference is between 64bit and 32? What's the advantage? No other phone has got 64bit is there a reason?

Thanks :)

Ability for one app to use more than 4 gigabytes of ram....wait iphone has less anyway.

Apps/iOS 7/Graphics on this new 64bit will out shine the previous model and that is a plus...

There is no benefit past infinity blade 3 since most apps still need to run well on iPhone 4

You won't see these phones come alive until the last single core device is no longer supported
