That's right... Pay the extortionate £1.89 for a single episode of ABC's "Kyle XY" and get non-relevant US-based advertising thrown in with your premium purchase.

Disgraceful.

So you are saying there were adverts in the show? Or are you talking about product placement?

I have a few hundred GBs lf iTunes content; I have never seen advertisement in any of them.

To clarify:

* 1 trailer for a TV show on a US network before the feature.
* Several trailers for TV shows on a US network after the feature.

That is obscene and you are right to be upset.

I don't think it's the norm though. Maybe a mistake?

Apple's response...

Dear Sir,

I understand that you are upset that the TV show you purchased had advertising in it. However, I feel I should point out that the iTunes Store is just that - a store. We do not create any of the content that we sell, and we cannot legally alter it. We can only accept the content provided to us as is.

I would recommend you express your dissatisfaction with this TV show to the studio that produced it. They are the ones that will be able to make any changes, and unless they are made aware of the fact that consumers are unhappy with the included advertising, the show as it is on the store will most likely remain the same, commercials and all.

I hope you find this information helpful. If you have any other questions about this issue feel free to reply to this email and I will gladly assist you further.

Sincerely,

Hmm, I see it now. "Dear ABC..."

Wimpy response. At the end of the day, Apple needs to regulate it. They put their name on it, and collect the money (and redistribute). I'd push for a refund. At least the commercials weren't interspersed within the show, though...

This isn't that big of a deal as long as it's trailers. I mean heck, HBO and Pay-Per-View have trailers at the beginning and end of movies.

As of today, I have purchased 646 TV episodes from iTunes. Only one show season had ads at the end of each show and that was Crank Yankers from Comedy Central. Some of the biggest purchases lately were Lost, 24 and Desperate Housewives. No ads.

I haven't bought anything from HBO so I can't verify if they have ads but so far no complaints.

Well I meant HBO as in on your television, not iTunes.
