Hey,

Before the arrival of my 13 inch m1 MBP, I used a Windows based gaming laptop for personal stuff, connected with a monitor linked below.

Windows Machine was an ASUS FS505DY, which also had a 1080p panel.

My screen: https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MAG241CP.html

I am still waiting for my dongle to arrive, for now, it is just being used with a Chrome OS work-issued machine, for which it is more than fine, thing can't go above 60hz anyway.

I had a friend over who briefly blended me his hub, and I plugged that screen into my M1 Mac, and boy did it look ugly in comparison with what I have on the native laptop display. It did get up to 120hz in the display settings tho, with the display actually supporting 144hz.

So the question is, is that screen pretty much useless now so, for my Macbook. I watched a lot of youtube reviews for 4k and 5k monitors connected via Thunderbolt, but I feel that they cost way too much.

Has anyone used a 1080p screen with their M1 mac or any other mac for that reason? Did you make it look less hideous, is there any tricks? I really don't feel like forking out 700 EUR on a 4k screen, when I don't do photo/video editing. Should I? Also, this screen has a "matt panel", instead of a glossy one, which I prefer.
