Looking to buy a 250GB external hard drive to work with my MacBook :D. Not too expensive, I just dropped $300 for my iPhone 3G and don't want to ask my dad to pay for the hard drive. Any suggestions?

Get a portable Firewire harddrive enclosure and a 5400 rpm ide drive to put in the enclosure. The nice thing about the little firewire drives is that they can be powered by the laptop's firewire port without a separate power adapter. Plus, you can easily take it with you. the 5400 rpm ones are pretty cheap.

Seagate Freeagent Desktop
WD MyBook Essential 500GB for $99 - here

P.S.: Seems like Seagate has stopped producing 250GB:confused:
And the essential only comes in 160, 320, 500, 750, 1TB

the rotten thing about usb is that it wakes computer from sleep whenever you plug in or unplug a device. Firewire doesn't do that.... so, when you close your laptop it won't wake up again when you pull the hard drive usb cable out... i know i know, you think you will just remember to unplug the drive before you put the computer to sleep. Trust me, you will curse a USB portable drive cuz you won't be able to remember. It's just the wrong workflow.
