Hello. I've been a heavy Mac user for 20 years doing Adobe stuff but am not sure what I should do here. I've got a voltage issue with my Macbook Pro and trying to decide if it's worth fixing or buying a new one. Here are the specs:

CURRENT MACBOOK PRO
2016 Macbook Pro 15"
i7 2.7 Mhz 4-core
16 GB Ram, 2GB Radeon Pro 455
512 GB SSD

APPLE STORE REPAIR ESTIMATE
$800
Everything passed Apple Store testing accept for a voltage issue.
Sometimes won't turn on, even when plugged in.

RESELL VALUE AFTER REPAIR
Minor bend on corner so seems like $1100 to $1400 (if the voltage issue was fixed).

CONSIDERING BUYING
Refurbished 2018 Macbook Pro 15"
i9 2.9 Mhz 6-core
32 GB Ram

Should I fix or buy new?

"Minor bend on corner" ????
That's going to cut your resale value by 50%.

Considering that it's got a damaged case, I wouldn't pay $800 to get it fixed.
It will probably bring only $600-800 at sale.

I'd get a new one, and perhaps you can sell the old one for parts.
Would Apple accept it as a "trade-in" ?
