I currently have a 2010 Macbook Pro and am looking to upgrade it. This laptop is my go to machine for all my personal fun stuff. I have an i7 HP laptop that I use for work. It connects to 2 24" HDMI monitors and runs 6 virtual machines (never more that 2 at a time).

I'd maybe like to combine all this into 1 new MBP. I probably max out financially at a 15" 16gig Ram, i7, with 256gig SSD.

I figure I will need to run the virtual machines off an external USB3 drive due to the size and quantity. These are all windows 7-8 VMs.

I need to connect 2 HDMI monitors. I'm thinking of connecting one monitor via mini display port -> HDMI. Getting a TB -> HDMI cable.

When I'm done with work, I don't need anything but the MBP so all of that can stay in the office.

Can anyone see any issues with this? Would I be better off to keep work separate and consider something more portable for my home use and just get a MBA? I keep flip flopping on this and would appreciate some comments.
