Next January, my current macbook will turn 7. It's starting to slow down a little and I was hoping to replace it (late 2014 with 16gb ram).

I was hoping to pre order yesterday's new macbook but its a little out of my budget.

I was wondering, considering that I want my next macbook to last a good number of years.

Do you see Apple upgrading the Entry-level M1 macbooks to the new CPU in the foreseeable future? (Meaning I should wait?)
or is still the M1 Macbook a good buy? To be honest I'm a bit put off by the fact that I cannot order it with 32GB ram

Otherwise, should i really pull the trigger on a 14" with 32gb? (Here in Europe that would be an equivalent of $3150)

I use my macbook for every day things which can be anything from browsing with 20 open tabs, conf calls, coding, watching movies in 4k, occasionally some light video editing or a game. I depend on it a lot.

Any thoughts?

The entry level MacBook Pro M1X is the one you are looking at.
I do get your requirements, but seriously, you'd be fine with the first gen M1 computers.

I would be fine, but for how long? I want my next mbp to last me again for 7± years
