Hi there,
First time poster so please be gentle!
I am recently a MAC user after previously being PC all my life.
I have a NAS drive set up serving all my media around my home, I am wanting to reorganise my photo collection which includes hundreds of albums from old family photos I have inherited, scans of photos and photos up to the present day taken on my digital camera. I have them all organised in sub folders under a main folder.
I have played with, iphoto, Aperture, Picasa and Pixelmator. I use the Picasa Web albums for 2 uses, 1 to keep an online back up and 2 to share with family members around the world. I also use Facebook for posting pictures.
Now this is where I get all OCD about stuff, I want to do the following things to every photo in my collection:
1) Where needed, use a piece of software for touching up photos, I want an easy UI to just do some simple adjustments, (cover up a spot on a face etc) and then save my master file. So its done forever! I have played with Aperture and although the retouch tool is great you cant simply save my original master file. I believe Pixelmator has version 2 coming out later this summer and will have a retouch tool which I think will have what I need.
2) Will the date of the photos then change to the date of the edit? As ideally I would like to keep the dates of the ones taken on the digital camera the same as dont want the photos all out of date and time sequence? If that makes sense?
3) I then want to add GPS co-ordinates into the master files, again in Aperture there is a plug in but it doesnt write the GPS to the master file. Any ideas?
4) Also wouldnt mind being able to update the metadata in terms of keywords etc, again I want to write this into the master file, any ideas?
5) Once done I can then import the album into iphoto and can then export to Picasa Web Albums and/or Facebook.
This will keep all my photos up to date as dont want to do loads of editing in a program such as Aperture and then not be able to take my edits with me!
Hope that makes sense, any idea/suggestions welcome.
Thanks
