Hi

I bought a mbp back in mid 2009, from my local apple store in the u.k.

I had a imac g5 isight in 2006 and I started to get stray pixel lines until half the screen was covered so I decided to get a macbook. This was he silver case macbook from 2008, long story short it got water damaged so I took it to the apple store.

I was told it would be cheaper to buy a new one than repair. I wasnt sure as I explained my previous problems with macs, and how this one broke so easy from the slight spill. I was told its ok you are buying it as a uni student you get 3 years student warranty. I said ok great and bought my macbook pro.

About 6 months ago I started to notice the flickering lines at the side of the screen. I moved the screen to see closer and they went away. I thought it may of just been an angle it was on and forgot about it.

Over time the lines got worse moving didnt stop it and a black ban went down the right side of the screen. I called apple to make an appointment recently, and took it to a genius bar.

I was told the computer was out of warranty, and the only extended warranty you get in store is a reduction of applecare. I explained the salesman told me If I bought from him today I would get the 3 year student deal instore. I was told the seller is highly thought of here, and I doubt he would of said that. I told them that this common problem should be cared of out of warranty, as the internet is full of the same. The manager told me if I wanted to find something on the internet you will. If you want to see something you will but he has never seen or heard of it. I said the apple site has about it with certain models navida chips, he said mine wasnt the chip.

In the end I was told to back it up and they will take it away to see exactly the problem (he already said the screen).

Im a graphic designer and cant be without my mac or I cant earn a living. He from they way he was acting isnt going to replace it nor free fix it so im stuck.

What can I do? I was miss sold on info that a salesman told me. I have an issue that is common problem they wont admit to.

Sorry for the essay im just at a loss of what to do.
