iPhone 7/Plus Advice needed -upgrading from Iphone 6 to ???

I have an Iphone 6 64 Gb purchased end of 2015 and a colleague is selling his Iphone 7 + 128 gb in very good condition. He changed the battery this year but the phone is out of warranty. He is asking 465€ for it.
I am really hesitating because I wanted the XR 128Gb which is for me at an acceptable price point (although double). However XR lacks telephoto mode. I want to use it for indoor photography, concerts (videos and stills). I want to get great pictures, and I am actually quite happy with the photo quality of my Iphone 6. The main problem with the 6 is the sluggishness with the app, event with IOS 12.
How good is the battery on Iphone XR compared to the Iphone 7 plus?

465 is too much for a 7+ out of warranty.

The XR battery will last 50-100% longer too.

I say go with the Xr. Since you're ok with the iPhone 6 camera, you will be very happy with the Xr camera. Like you said, you will be missing out on the telephoto lens, which would be a valid argument for the 7+, but seeing how the 7+ is out of warranty, is over 2 year old tech, shorter battery life, and a bit on the pricey side IMO, the telephoto lens does not justify those shortcomings.

If you really want the telephoto lens, another option would be the X. If you can still find one new, it should be around the same price as the Xr.. or of course just splurge for the Xs...
