Hello,

I could really do with some help with this problem, which is a big problem for me, as I love watching movies on my Mac, and have only ever used VLC for this. At the moment this isn't really possible and unfortunately, so far, the forums at Videolan have not brought me any advice at all.

I have a brand new 15" Retina MacBook Pro, low end model w/Intel Iris Pro. Running latest build of Mavericks.
If I open any type of movie file (typically mkv but the odd avi too) with VLC (latest build), one out of every four or five times I get a kernel panic and my Mac shutdowns and re-starts.

Done all sorts of user set-up resets with Apple, reset in VLC preferences and nothing stops it happening. I can open files any which way in VLC, either dragging into VLC window, or browse then open or any way, but it keeps happening. Three, four or five times fine, then the next a kernel panic.

Really bothering me now, as I've used VLC for many years to watch films with no problems, and now this. I watch films a lot, every day in fact, and right now I am uneasy using VLC as obviously I don't want to carry on getting these kernel panics.

There must be other Retina 15" Pro owners out there using VLC - can anybody at least let me know that they are not experiencing this?
But of course if anybody is able to help in any way I would hugely appreciate it.
Many thanks, Carl.

P.s. Is there any chance at all (presuming other Retina 15" owners can use VLC fine) that there is some problem with the integrated graphics? I have done the diagnostics test, and that said no problems ...
