Hi currently looking to buy a mac book pro core 2 duo 2.33 ghz model from the NUS apple store.

It says on the store that all desktops and notebooks are shipped with a free 3 year apple care. But when choosing the spec of the notebook there is an option to uprgrade applecare for £59.

Does anyone now what the free 3 year care covers and if there is any benefits of paying the extra £59. Also does any apple care cover you against accidental damage or is it just parts and labour.

Any info would be much appreciated

If you're an HE student you get three years parts support. However, this is not phone support and is not Applecare as most people know it. When I ordered my Mac Pro I decided to pay the extra £50 for the full Applecare especially since it would then cover my display for three years too. Apple do not cover accidental damage, that's for your home insurance to deal with!
