Hello,

I will be an incoming freshman this year, and I am considering getting a MBP for college. My major will be a media major, with a primary focus on audio, and a secondary focus on video. I am looking at the MBP and thinking that I am going to go with the highest end 15" one due to the good HDD, video cards, and portability (as opposed to the 17"). Do you think this would be a wise choice for my major situation, and if not, can you please give me some reccomendations? I would also consider getting an iMac, but I feel that the portability of the MBP would help.

Thanks a lot!

Its a great machine and should definitely do everything you need it to do (well).

do you think its overkill at all? Would I notice a difference with the 512 MB video memory as opposed to the 256 MB?

You will notice a slight difference in rendering and such between the 512 and 256 when using graphic intensive programs such as motion.
