I am planning to buy a MBP within the next few month; however, this is my first time switching to a mac. I've used PC all my life and i thought it'd be a nice change for once. I have few questions about buying the new set of MBP.

Is it better to buy from the apple store? or the apple online site? or is there any other recommendation of sites?

What does it mean to buy it under "educational"?

Thanks.

I was also wondering if it is worth it to pay $349 for the AppleCare plan.

Educational order means you have a student/faculty discount.

Apple Store is good for instant gratification but if you want to customize your order, online is better.
