hi, I'm looking for a 23" or 24" external monitor to hook up to my MBP, would like to pay ~$150, give or take. Primarily I'll be using it to work on large spreadsheets and watch the occasional movie.

I don't know much about display technologies but have the impression that IPS is a good thing, especially for wider viewing angles (helpful for movie watching?). Also my MBP has an HDMI port so I'm looking for a monitor that has such an interface (or DisplayPort, though this seems to be more rare). Ideally (but I suppose not necessarily) the thing will look half-way decent too.

I found a few monitors that appear to fit these requirements (IPS + HDMI or DisplayPort), and am wondering if anyone has had any experience with either of these, and would recommend or recommend against them?

AOC i2367Fh 23-Inch IPS Frameless LED Monitor ($~$150)

--> looks nice. is AOC a reputable brand?

Acer H236HL 23" Monitor, Black - UM.VH6AA.003 ($150)

HP - Pavilion 23" IPS LED HD Monitor ($150)

---> ugly but specs seem decent?

Dell P2314H YDPKC 23-Inch LED-Lit Monitor ($155)
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-YDPKC-23-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00EMB4KVS/
--> Dell has a good reputation for displays, no?

thanks a lot for any advice -- cheers, wp.
