Advice on cable between 2019 MBP and mid-2013 iMac

Hi,

I have a 2019 16inch MBP and an old mid-2013 iMac. I would like to use the iMac as an external display for the Macbook Pro. I have done this in the past using a 2015 & 2016 MBP with the same imac using a thunderbolt cable. How can i do this with the 2019 MBP s USB-C port?

Any suggestions/advice greatly appreciated.

It looks like Apple recommends using the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter.

Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

Target display mode is a feature available with certain older Mac models.

Great thank you so much for the links. Before I rush out and pay £50 for an adaptor is there any good third party adaptor available which someone could recommend.
