Advice on iMovie

Morning All

I have never used iMovie before and I am about to get a digital camera to take a few home movies, just very basic ones

I will be getting iLife 09 soon so will be using the new version when I get this

Until I get the new version is it best to use iMovie from iLife 08 or use iMovie HD

I am mainly looking at compatibility with the new version, not about the features between previous versions
