Advice on iphone 4s(5.1) jailbreak and unlock

Hi guys, i have looked for for hours, but have not find it. My question is...i have an iphone 4s, running on 5.1 with baseband 2.0.10 and want jailbreak it and most importantly unlock it permanently.
I know that an absinthe jailbreak is available but that would make me have to update to 5.1.1. Which i will rather not do as i dont wanna get stuck on a higher ios version and then have to wait more. Can i unlock my phone with the absinthe jailbreak? With my current setup. Or what do you recommend i do?

What's wrong with higher iOS version? It has better battery management system and Absinthe can jailbreak it. There's no software unlock for 4S so your only option is gevey sim.

You could also check with your carrier they might unlock it for you
