I have imported all my CDs into iTunes but noticed some are broken up when different artists are on different tracks. For example...

The album The Virtuoso Trombone has some tracks with Christian Lindburg as the artist, some as Christian Lindberg, Roland Pöntinen.

The Aladdin soundtrack had it split into 4 or 5 different artists. I went through and made them a Compilation but I'm not sure if it's really considered this. Should I change the artists name so iTunes will keep them together?

I used to be able to check the info in the iTunes store to see how they have it organized but can't do that anymore.

iTunes uses 4 fields to determine which albums sort together:
  • Album
  • Album Artist
  • Sort Album
  • Sort Album Artist
As long as all tracks have matching information in those tags, the album will sort together. So for albums with various artists, put the individual artist name in the Artist field, and put "Various Artists" in the Album Artist and Sort Album Artist fields. The album will sort together. If it doesn't immediately, remove the album from your library and re-add it.
