Hello,

Just some info. I had a black/slate iPhone 5, that I had to have replaced because of a faulty volume button. I had some pictures I had taken on my iPhone. I restored the phone before bringing it in to the apple store.

When I restored the phone, I didn't import the photos into iPhoto. I have a MacBook Pro that I use to sync with my iPhone.

So I lost my pictures. I called apple support. And asked the girl If possible my photos would be in the cloud? We talked for awhile and I had an iCloud backup but some how the pictures weren't there.

On my MacBook Pro she had me restore to an older backup. I had backed up to the 2nd of September it would have been the day before I brought my iPhone back when I had it restored.

No luck with the pictures. After I got off the phone with apple support. I tried to go to an earlier backup, I think I had backups from June July. I thought maybe I could recover some photos.

Fooling around with my iPhone. I noticed a contact disappeared. It was my moms contact and it had a nice picture on it. I am going from memory but it seemed like yesterday morning it was there, then I restored my phone to various backups. And then it was gone. So I made a new contact but I think the picture was on my roll of photos that got lost.

Another thing that happened during syncs, I lost a game called zoneout which I can see in my iTunes under mobile applications but for some reason I can't get it to sync to my phone. It was a game my nephew loved to play. He was always asking to borrow my iPhone to play it. And it played on the phone I had returned. But now I can't seem to sync it to my iPhone 5. And I searched in the App Store and it appears to be gone.

So I am seeking advice on syncing my iPhone. I have a MacBook Pro laptop, but I don't have Internet service at my house. I use my iPhones data plan for surfing the web, emails etc.

I really don't understand iCloud. I do use my local library on occasion on my laptop using wireless. But how would I have any backups or photos on iCloud if I never connect to wifi on my phone.

I know I should have imported my photos before restoring. But I am looking for advice or maybe a tutorial on syncing my iPhone, so I don't make mistakes in the future.

Like as an example, my contacts how can I try to keep them up to date. I have an address book on my MacBook Pro. And even now I have a contact labeled mom. It has an older picture than the contact that disappeared. But if I do a sync, would that contact get precedent over one on my iPhone?

When I called apple they were very nice over the phone. I find syncing overwhelming at times with my laptop, iCloud, google contacts etc. but I hate losing stuff like photos and could use some help getting my syncing routine down so I can keep better track of my info in the future.

btw I am going on memory like I did do a backup before I restored my old phone so I don't know why I couldn't somehow recover my old photos. So some things in my post are from what I remember. And I'm sure there are a lot of variables about what could have gone wrong.

Anyway any help would be appreciated.
