I have a2010 MacBook Pro with 4 gig of ram which I use for university study. I usually have a few applications open at once such as Word, Endnote,IMindmap,Audionote, Firefox or Safari. I have upgraded to Yosetimiteas I use an IPad 2 for lectures and sync items at the end of the day. I have considered upgrading the RAM to 8 gig as the machine is alittle slow but has Ben reliable. would uprpgrading the RAM be of use to me as. I ammostly writing assignments etc no games movies etc just study Would a SSD be. Worth it as well in this older machine? I am a mature age student so would appreciate advice. Thank You

SSD for the win

Hi there, to be honest your best bet will be an SSD for a speed boost it makes everything faster and feels much better in general use. Bumping the RAM to 8gb won't do any harm but i'd check your RAM pressure graph in activity monitor if it stays in the green you are all good for RAM, more ram is wasted unless you are using it.
