I've inherited a six year old ibook G4 with 1.07 GHz and 768 MB DDR SDRAM that is still running on 10.3.9

I know I can't upgrade to 10.6, but should I upgrade it to 10.4 or 10.5? And do I need the "box set" or the regular?

Don't get Mac OS X 10.5, I have the same iBook and Leopard runs too slow to be enjoyable. Mac OS X 10.4 is the best solution, but 10.3.9 can be okay too.

You can find RETAIL of Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) copies via ebay or Craisglist if you want. Maybe you can even get one via Apple, just ask them if you can.
