Hey all

I purchased a refurbed 6200 from eBay which has a load of games and classic software on - even photoshop 3.0 which I thought was pretty cool.

It’s currently on 7.6 and I am curious about upgrading the OS - if I did do that, what would I need to consider?

Would I need to upgrade sequentially or can I go direct to OS9?

If I upgraded my OS would I lose all the software already installed?

Is OS9 the best for this particular Macintosh or would it run better on another version, like OS8?

It’s got a 4GB or so HDD which has 4 partitions so perhaps I could install the later software on another partition?

Goal with the 6200 is to just enjoy a load of vintage software from the likes of Mac repository - mainly games. So my initial thinking was, newer OS would allow me to access more software and games, right?

I’m very much a noob so all advice welcome :)

7.6 is probably the “right” OS for that machine. You can try 8.1 or 8.6 if you have ram to spare. I certainly prefer the look and feel of 8 but 7 is probably the fastest for that machine, IMHO.
