i've been thinking about putting most of my dvd collection on my computer for viewing on both my tv through the computer and my laptop and my ipod. I've been trying to decide the best way to do this and get good quality while saving space on both screens.
I could either choose the best codec and resolution that the ipod, described on the ripping dvds to ipod stickie thread. Or I could do that as well as ripping in a higher quality codec for other viewer. The latter would take a lot of space, I'm not sure if its worth it.
has anyone else gone through this and have advice?
another concern... when the new video ipods come out, will they support a better resolution? something I'll have to think about as re-ripping my collection would certainly be a pain.
also, does anyone know what the exact format and resolution of shows that you buy through itunes are in? They always seem to look better than when I rip via the instructions of that thread i mentioned with handbrake.
