Previously I was a PaintShopPro [plus its animation suite] user and got on really creatively with it. I have searched and read other threads on this forum about alternatives and checked out the download page at Apple.com, but decided to post my exact needs for opinion on whats good and also what is totally crap and to avoid 'like a vista running pcworld cheap special'.
This is a typical creation - where I have added copywrite text or sometimes captions, added borders and or frames, tidied up the original photo [red eye, cropped, resized, edited blemishes and scraches etc], sometimes merging two images using a crop tool or colour separation tool.
Or I have started from a blank page [using pixel dimensions rather than mm's or inches] and created custom animated logos and gifs
Or started from a blank page, taken a screen shot and then cropped/reized it etc.
