Hello,

First time posting, long time reading. Hope this isn't a dumb question, here goes.

This morning I purchased an Intel X-25 80gb SSD for my 2008 Macbook Pro (2.4 ghz model, 4gb RAM).

I also purchased a Synology DS209 NAS and two 500 gb Samsung HDDs for it.

I am migrating from my stock 160 gb which currently houses all my data (backed-up via Time Machine).

I know there are videos online on replacing the HDD so I won't ask about that. Essentially I am looking for advice on the most efficient way to operate my new setup. My proposal is:

1. Install SSD and reinstall the the OS from scratch.
2. Install main applications (Office and Music Library).
3. Move other media (videos, pictures) to HDD 1 in the NAS. Also set this HDD as my time machine backup for the Macbook Pro with the SSD now.
4. Configure NAS RAID (of the two 500 drives) so that the primary HDD #1 (which now contains media and time machine backup) backs up to the other HDD #2 in the NAS (RAID1 I setup I think).

Does this sound efficient or reasonable? Any suggestions on something that is easier?

Thanks.
