Advice setting up access to my iMac over the internet

Hi All,
I'm a business user, and I need access to my bookeeper's version and data held on SAGE.
My solution revolves around loading SAGE onto my iMac (which is permanently left running) keeping the data file for it on my hard drive in a given location and giving her read/write access to it over the internet.
Is this feasable? And/or am I barking up the wrong tree where a much simple answer to my problem is available?
