Advice/Tips picking up 27" iMac

My current set up is:
13" MacBook 2.0ghz Alu Late 2008
30" ACD with Dual-Link to MiniDP

I wanted to get either the baseline 27" iMac 3.06Ghz C2D or baseline 27" i5 2.66Ghz
and hook that up to my MacBook 2.0 for use as a display once in a while.


I'm wondering if selling the 30" for $1300 ~ $1400 is decent as I currently have an eBay offer for it.

im just wondering also if anyone has compared either side by side the 30" & 27" if the 16x10 vs 16x9 would have a huge impact as far as resolution goes.
Im really intrigued by the IPS panels and getting rid of the older display technology used in the ACD.


any advice, think itd make sense to sell off the 30" for the 1300 ~ 1400 and pick up either of the baseline iMacs.

I have an H-IPS panel from NEC. IPS display technology is superior. Never going back to junk TN panels, and you'll hate working on them when you get used to a quality IPS screen.

iMac screens are great. iMacs are very good. I'd make the switch and dump the monitor.

The new i5/i7 iMac's are just a must have imo. It's just a matter of time
before I pick one up myself.

Both displays use IPS panels! (S-IPS for the Cinema Display)
The only difference between them is the backlight technology. The iMac uses LED and the Cinema CCFL backlight.
