I'm in the market for a MacBook Pro 13" TB (2016). My last MacBook Air was ordered online through Apple. However, I see that Currys and John Lewis both have an offer for £200 off the marked price.

I have bought things from these retailers before, but never a laptop. So keen to hear any advice or things I might not be aware of. Also, probably a daft question, but does AppleCare still apply when bought away from apple?

Cheers

Take the JL deal, two year warranty and excellent service.

Also you can add AppleCare anytime before the 12 months is up

One thing I'll add, JL and currys you will deal with for any initial exchanges , after what apple takes care of the warranty, well in JL they have a 2 year warranty but I've never used it. Ive always bought where it's cheaper and added AppleCare if I wanted after.

Go for the best price is my advice and put the saving onto AppleCare.

JL are fantastic - great customer service on a par with Apple and you get a 2 year warranty thrown in. Steer clear of Currys as many here have reported bad experiences with customer services - refusals to exchange etc.
