Advices for 2 macbook.£400 and £500 (budget)

Hi there friends.
I need your precious advice. I've been considering buying 2 macbooks. There's 2 different budgets. One is £400 and the other is £500. Obviously they will be second hand and probably bought from ebay.
What models would you suggest for these 2 price ranges?
The one of £400 will be used for basic things, normal use, nothing crazy.
The one of £500 will be used for basic things but also with music programs like Logic, Ableton etc.

You can get a 2014 mbpr for that. In fact there's one going in 8 minutes for less than £400.
