Friends,
i am thinking about buying my first MacBook. As i don't have money i am thinking about buying a used mac pro.

2006 macBook pro (rev.b) 2.33 3gb ram, 250hdd, the battery last only one hour and cd burner is dead (a collague from work says that it is probably because of bad firmware update) 15.4 mat display. (he said it was replaced in 2008 on warranty)

i dont think i need the last hardware, however i want to make music.

i live in Paris and the price for this setup is 650 euro. which makes 900.1523 dollars.

my question, is it so bad to but such an old mac? i know the guy (we work in same office) so probably there is no hidden problems.

I wouldn't consider buying it for that price... bad CD burner?
You should be able to get something better for that price

u think so, i checked mac2sell and the prices are around 1100 usd. and if you consider that i live in France, the prices even higher here.

I don't thin it's a good idea either.

- This has a Core Duo processor which aren't very good in the performance area and tends to get very hot
- you may have to buy a new battery if you need mobility
- cd burner is dead
- after 3 years you need to check if the screen has not suffered.

it is core2duo 2.33 processor.
screen was replaced for new one in 2008.

i dont need long lasting battery.

where to buy:
1.new dvd-writer for macbook pro rev.b 2006?
2.battery for the same macbook pro

I'm sure by the time you replace the battery and get a new CD/DVD burner you're going to be spending the same amount of money which you would've by getting one with less problems.
