There is a lot of dust under the glass of my iphone.

Went to Mac store. Genius said it could be replaced for free, then he said "wait" and showed me a crack in the back (where I dropped it one time) and said it would be $199.00 to replace.

Should, I suck it up and continue to use it with dust under the glass (not that bad yet) or buy a new one for $199.00?

or any other ideas?

do you have $200 to blow.

Nope. The dust right now doesn't matter $200.00 worth to me (in this day and age).

I guess I was just concerned that it may build up more where it interferes with what I can see (or touch), or the crack may get worse or something... I dunno...That may be worth $200.00

Typically, I thought I would have to pay full retail if I dropped the phone, so I wanted to act fast on the $200.00 if the problem gets bad. If I always have the option to replace for $200.00, I'd just wait, but I'm worried that if I wait too long I'd have to pay Full retail.

This is really what it comes down too. If you see this as a valuable investment in your happiness, then go for it. :)

Unless the dirt is entering the crack he created.

I was wondering that too. I put a case on it (a soft rubber one, shoulda done this earlier before I dropped it on the driveway I guess).

Question: If I wait until the new one comes out, they wouldn't let me just buy the new one at the subsidized price would they??(i got the 3G in october-ATT)???

I didn't have a lot of dust under my glass, but there was a spot. It was easy for me to shake the device and physically move the dust out of the way. Since then I haven't seen it.
