I have the latest Airport Extreme that can broadcast at 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I read that devices can switch between the best network if both bands are turned on. How exactly does this work?

My Net:
2.4GHz name - mynet
5.0GHz name - mynet 5GHz

Devices:
Setup with both networks. But it seems that it'll only connect to the last one entered in the settings.

Thanks.

I have two different names for the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands. Then set the connect order in Settings/Preferences>Network>Advanced>WiFi. If you only want it to connect to one, then only put one name in.

I try to use 5Ghz but I have some devices that only can use the 2.4Ghz band.
Yes, some devices like to hold onto a connection, even if it isn't the best one for the location.
