I have a AEBS 3rd gen on one side of the house it has the modem plugged into it and is my DHCP server. I just got a Time Capsule 4th gen which is on the other side of the house, it's in bridge mode.
As well as acting as a wired router and NAS I'd like to extend the AEBS wifi so I get full bars all over the house. But when I set up the Time Capsule in "Extend a wireless network" mode the Time Capsule becomes inaccessible to Finder and Time Machine. Also is really slow when using the Airport Utility, but is fine when Wifi is turned of or in "Create a wireless network" mode.
I have found forum post from years ago with the same issue but no real resolution. Is this some long running bug with the Time Capsule, Is there a way to fix this or have I gotten a defective unit?
