Aerial screensaver always showing same few videos

I love the look of the Aerial screensaver but mine seems to show one of the the same 5 videos every time*. Does anyone know a trick to force it to download more? It is set to download new ones daily.

*This would only be moderately annoying but the few it does show me are nearly always Dubai and I'd rather not see hideous edifices to human slavery every time the screen saver fires up.

Try changing the settings to download daily, or whatever setting you prefer.

I have the same issue with my ATV4k now. My old ATV4 would cycle through all the available ones over a few days.

It might even be an issue with Apple's servers - not refreshing the list of screensavers.

As I said, it is set to download daily.

That page I linked to is shows the list and video direct from Apple's servers so I think that part of the equation is OK.

I wish we had some preferences around this like the Aerial screensaver on macOS by John Coates.

I'm completely tired of seeing anything "San Francisco" - If I never see photos of there again I'll be happy.

I have the same issue. Ever since I’ve had the ATV 4K I’ve had the same set of screensavers. Tried all of the update setting and a full restore, to no avail.

I joined the beta program just to see if this gets worked out and as of yet the answer is no.

I'll be submitting feedback on this issue as well - I used to have this problem with the 4th Gen AppleTV but one of the software updates fixed it for me. Hopefully the same happens with the 4K model...

I’m just looking at aerial with x-code and the screensavers are only in 4K-SDR. Does anyone know if they’re supposed to be in HDR?

Yep. They are in various masterings: https://sylvan.apple.com/Aerials/2x/entries.json
You must set aTV to output HDR for it to play the HDR version. You can also download the MOV files shown in the JSON above and play them locally by your own means (iTunes, Infuse, Plex,,,).
