aerial screensavers download

The Apple TV lets you choose how often to download fresh aerial screensavers from Apple. I've opted for the weekly option. I'm wondering if screensavers are downloaded when the Apple TV is off or even at night...does anyone know? I would hate if that happened while streaming video....

It only does it if the ATV4 isn't otherwise using it's internet connection, and will stop if you start streaming something. It doesn't look at overall network use though, so you might notice a brief temporary slowdown if other devices on your network are using the internet.
