Today, 21 July 2016 there is lots of news about new updates to Apple routers referencing 7.7.7 and 7.6.7 version numbers. But my router has been on 7.7.7 for a while and no new updates are showing up for my router either through the router itself or through the app store.

What am I missing?

7.7.7 was released on May 25, so I'm not sure where you saw news of its release today? There hasn't been anything since then, so you are on the latest version.

It was mentioned here, https://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2016/06/21/apple-airport-routers-get-critical-security-update/
And on MacNN except I can't find that one. Also mentioned on Apples own website here, http://prod.lists.apple.com/archives/security-announce/2016/Jun/msg00000.html, and here http://www.macworld.com/article/308...serious-flaw-in-airport-wireless-routers.html

The confusion is that yes, 7.7.7 was released a while ago. So what's going on?
Yeah... that's odd Apple would send that notice out. You can see at this link it came out May 24 and it was pretty widely reported at the time.

I bet both those sites saw the Apple listserv email and ran the story without realizing it was old info.

Edit. I found the MacRumors article on this here from May 24.

My AE Extreme (802.11ac) has 7.7.7. I also have an Express with 7.6.7 (802.11n, 1st Generation). I guess the 7.7.7 applies only for newer models.
I updated both the same day.
