Hi,
I have an AFP share on my nas box containing many files. My problem is that when I try and to rename files by hitting enter, the finder window refreshes and I lose focus of the file rename. This seems to be happening when finder is refreshing the thumbnails for each file's icon.

How can I stop this very frustrating behavior. This doesn't happen when not using AFP.

Thanks in advance,
Jordan

This is a maddening side-effect of the live thumbnail system that I'm somewhat shocked Apple hasn't fixed yet.

The workaround is easy, though, so long as you don't mind turning the icon previews off entirely: View menu --> Show View Options --> uncheck Show Icon Preview, then click "Use as Defaults" to make it universal.

By the way, I believe this problem will occur with a local filesystem too, it's just that the icons usually generate so quickly you don't notice.

Thanks, that workaround is working for me :) I'd rather have the previews (obviously) but I can live without them to save my sanity.

Thanks for the tip.
